The School of Mathematics will be hosting the second round of the 8th Kenya Mathematical Olympiad on the 27th January 2018. The Olympiad is an annual High school competition that seeks to select the Kenyan teams to the Pan African Mathematical Olympiad (PAMO).

Students participating in the second round were selected after participating in the first round which was held on the 5th October 2017.

The top 20 students in the second round will be selected to participate in the third and final round during which the Kenyan team for the Pan African Mathematical Olympiad and the International Mathematical Olympiad will be selected.

This year Kenya will be hosting the 26th PAMO Olympiad in May 2018. The host Institution Will be the School of Mathematics University of Nairobi in collaboration with Ministry of Education which is one of the events partner.

It has been noted that schools that participate in such events report good performance in mathematics in the just concluded exams of 2017 Maranda school scored 209 A’s in mathematics while alliance girls high school scored 223 A’s in Mathematics.

The second round Mathematics paper consists of 10 questions to be answered over a period of

 2 hrs. The questions require more than the standard routine.
