The workshop on African women Mathematicians Kenya 2015 is a forum for the promotion of mathematics and African women mathematicians; the purpose of this workshop is to hold the first congress of  the  African Women in Mathematics Association (AWMA) and  to  bring together african women mathematicians from various countries within the continent to a Mathematics Workshop.

VENUE: Lake Naivasha Panorama Park, Naivasha.`

THEME: Women in Mathematics for Social Change and Sustainable Livelihoods.

This workshop is a follow-up workshop in the series of workshops initiated under the auspices of AMUCWMA which is the African Mathematical Union (AMU) Commission  for Women and Mathematics in Africa.

The first one was held in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) from 26th–27th october 2012 and the second one held at the  African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in Cape Town from 17th – 19th July 2013.

1- Objectives of the workshop

The main objectives of this workshop is to hold the first congress of AWMA and to bring together women from various countries within the continent to a Mathematics Workshop where there will be  a platform for presenting their work, discussing experiences and initiatives that promote Mathematics with the aim of addressing social change and creating sustainable livelihoods. There will also be plenary sessions from invited speakers representing the African landscape as well as experts from elsewhere to address and facilitate specific themes of the workshop.

The workshop is intended

  • For African women mathematicians and doctoral students;
  • For faculty members and doctoral students;
  • To all those who are interested in mathematics.
