Biodiversity Information Standards (TDWG) is the premier organization that develops global standards for mobilizing and disseminating biodiversity information. 

TDWG 2015 – the first of its series to be held in Africa – will be attended by a blend of international biodiversity information generators, providers, aggregators, indexers and IT experts, all with a wealth of knowledge in education, research, policy and industry.

In recognition of the critical role of sound biodiversity data in sustainable development, discussions will focus on advances in Digitization of biodiversity data, Semantic Technologies, Phyloinformatics, Outreach and Collaboration, e-Publications, Trait Data, and Conservation informatics.

The meeting will feature workshops, invited plenary lectures, contributed talks, software demonstrations, and poster sessions spread over the four-day period. Participants will get opportunities to meet and interact with; seasoned practitioners in informatics, representatives of biodiversity-related foundations and industry, and staff  in biodiversity information programmes and facilities, such as the Global Biodiversity Information Facility, Encyclopedia of Life and Atlas of Living Australia.
