The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for High School students and is held annually in different countries.The first IMO was held in 1959 in Romania, with 7 countries participating.This year Kenya will be represented by six (6) students (contestants) from different schools of the republic. Students from the participating schools
were selected after a rigorous second round of the 6th Kenya Mathematics Olympiad (KMO 2016) contest held in the school of Mathematics University of Nairobi on the 5th March 2016.
The School of Mathematics has been conducting a two week training camp for the Kenyan team. The training started from 28th May, 2016 and will ran till the 11th June, 2016 between 2pm and 7pm on weekdays and between 9am to 4 pm on weekends. The Olympiad will be held in Hong Kong from the 6th to the 16th of July 2016. Over 100 countries are expected to attend and participate. This will be the first time Kenya will be sending a team to the International Mathematical Olympiad. The host of IMO will be the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
