THE ACTUARIES

Actuarial students launch their latest magazine at the Tribe Hotel

The Nairobi University Actuarial Students’ Association, N’ASA, is proud to unveil the 2013 issue of the NU Actuary magazine. This is an annual in-house publication that targets all parties interested in the actuarial profession. With the quality of articles taking a huge leap forward from the previous year’s issue, it is clear how seriously the students regard their publication.

This year’s magazine was launched at the Tribe Hotel, where the association celebrated yet another successful academic year in which they managed to organize close to a dozen of events. Everyone who attended the event was lucky to walk away with a free issue of the magazine. The 2013 issue took a more in-depth look into the financial market in Kenya, with several articles written by professionals in the industry.

While launching the NU Actuary, the outgoing N’ASA editor – Patience Njeri – thanked her editorial board that had labored tirelessly to pick the very best from scores of worthy articles presented. She also thanked the companies that helped raise funds for the publications through purchasing advertising space.

Presenting gifts to the editorial committee, Mr. Moses Mutuli of CFC Life reminded the students that editorial skills are rare and always appreciated by employers.

Many of the guests took away extra copies to display at their office tables, further enhancing the name of the university. As the academic year draws to a close, we can only hope that there’s more to come from the students. With N’ASA now forming a national body alongside all other universities, there’s no doubt that next year’s issue will be a national one.
