BLUE, ABLE AND SIMPLIFIED LINEAR ESTIMATION OF THE SELECTED ORDER STATISTICS FROM THE LOGISTIC DISTRIBUTION

Abstract
Simplified linear estimation of the scale parameter of the logistic
distribution based on the sum of consecutive order statistics is
considered. The paper also discusses the best linear unbiased
estimators (BLUE) and asymptotically best linear estimators (ABLE)
based on k optimally selected order statistics from the logistic
distribution. The proposed model is based on a pair of single spacing
and the two binary digits as the weights and the bias, variance and
relative efficiencies for sample sizes n = 5(1)40(5)85, ∞ are
computed.
