Introduction into Statistical Software using R and Stata

This workshop aims at giving a broad introduction into the statistical software R and Stata. Hereby we will use basic statistics to develop computer skills in these statistical software to analyze data and interpret results in both simple and more advanced settings. In this workshop, we introduces the statistical software packages R and Stata. Hereby we introduces the basic concepts oft these languages. In this way, the participants learn how to manipulate and visualize data sets. furthermore, we also focus on how to import and export data sets from text-files and excel-files. Next we give an

introduction into basic statistical programming and show the use of basic statistical techniques in the analysis of data sets.

In this workshop, the participants are introduced to the

statistical software R and Stata

  • to use these software packages to manage, visualize and analyze data.

  • to understand how statistical methods can be applied to real-life problems;

  • to understand how important statistical concepts, such as variables, estimation, hypothesis testing and modelling can be performed based on software;

  • to choose the correct statistical technique for the specific data setting the practitioner is faced with;

  • to build a statistical model for different experimental settings and to interpret and report results;
