Message from Thematic Head

The pace of industrialization of any country depends on how fast it is able to put into technological use the available scientific knowledge. The scientific solution of many real life problems requires mathematical modelling, and the evaluation of a model with the help of computers is accomplished by scientific computing. So mathematics is becoming increasingly important in economic and technological development of our time.

The overall objective of this course is to provide sound education in mathematics to those who have a true desire to pursue a career in mathematics. The programme aims at producing a well focused graduate with a potential for further training in mathematics and related disciplines. The programme provides for five main areas of specialisation: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research and Actuarial Mathematics.
