Workshop on Algebraic Geometry

Participants during the 5th Nairobi Workshop on Algebraic Geometry held on 2nd to 11th September 2019 at the School of Mathematics, University of Nairobi. Prof. Miles Reid (second-right) from University of Warwick and Prof. Dominic Joyce (centre) from University of Oxford were among guest lecturers who lectured on different aspects of Geometry during the graduate summer school

The School of Mathematics held its annual Workshop in Algebraic Geometry. The workshop is the 5th since inception in 2015. Through the years the workshop has attracted several international speakers.

The 5th workshop was supported by a grant from the Centre for Quantum Geometry of Moduli Spaces at Aarhus University, Denmark, funded by Danish National Research Foundation. The University of Oxford and the University of Warwick have been supporting the school since it started.

The workshop consisted of courses by Prof Dominic Joyce and Professor Miles Reid of Warwick University to help with the teaching during the workshop was Jacob Gross a Ph.D. student. Prof Joyce held two lectures “Introduction to Differential Geometry", and "Complex manifolds and Kähler geometry”. the lectures were adapted from his graduate lecture courses he gave in University of Oxford
